In 2018 there were two important things that had us on our toes: the Architecture Stamp in Romania and the GDPR in the whole European Union. Following, you can read briefly about the two subjects and why are they important for De-a Arhitectura.
We support the Architecture Stamp
Funding some of our programs through the Architecture Stamp has made it possible to initiate and grow the widest program of shaping interaction between the architect’s guild and the community: since 7 years we’ve put hundreds of architects all over the country face-to-face with a few thousands school children from public schools, during an entire school year.
The direct way in which the architects’ guild has come to open up and meet the society is unprecedented within the projects developed by De-a Arhitectura Association, through our educational activities making available communication channels inaccessible until now. We support the Romanian Order of Architects (OAR) in its mission to convince the society that architecture is primarily an act of culture of public interest, with urban, economic, social and ecological implications.

De-a Arhitectura and GDPR
As of May 25th, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force for those who process the personal data of the European Union’s citizens. This created an avalanche of messages (emails, SMS) which, out of the blue, required us to accept receiving information, offers, etc, from different NGOs and entities. This was because the Regulation asks, among other things, for explicit consent in order to feature in the database of an organization and to receive correspondence.
We have always sent messages only to those who have agreed to receive newsletters from us. We manage carefully the databases we have; we do not offer them to anyone. We do not store contact information from children. We are, to a large extent, already “GDPR ready” since before May 25th, 2018.
