Basalt School – Let’s go outside to learn!
De-a Arhitectura Association is launching in 2023 a new series of interviews centered around Built Environment Education (BEE). We start the series with an interview from Hungary, with our friend András Cseh, who came to De-a Arhitectura’s first conference dedicated to architecture education for children in 2014 – De-a arhitectura Talks.
HundrED Global Collection 2023: De-a Architectura selected for the second year among the brightest innovations in education worldwide
De-a Arhitectura attended, between October 26th and 28th, the HundrED Global Summit in Helsinki and, for the second consecutive year, was selected among the brightest innovations in education in this year’s Global Collection.
Globalworth Foundation and Igloo launch the international competition 2031 NOW_our cities in 10 years
Globalworth Foundation and Igloo – Habitat and Architecture Association launch the international competition “2031 NOW_our cities in 10 years” dedicated to students in architecture, city planning and design from Poland and Romania. By expressing a future vision within a project until January 20, 2022, the winning participants will be rewarded prizes worth €11,000, as well as the possibility to present their proposals at the High Tech Learning Center within the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urban Planning Bucharest, and to publish them in the catalog of the competition.
Talking to UIA – Architecture and Children members: Junko Taguchi
As a member of the UIA (International Union of Architects) – Architecture and Children Work Program, we undertake the mission to raise awareness about built environment education (BEE). In 2020 we launched a new series of interviews with the members of the Work Program, to better understand how our international colleagues implement BEE activities, what is their vision and approach in their specific set of circumstances and what we can learn from it. We continue the series with Junko Taguchi, our colleague from Japan.

HundrED, a global non-profit based in Finland that improves education through impactful innovations, has just announced its 5th annual Global Collection which highlights 100 leading innovations in K12 education from around the world. De-a Arhitectura has been recognized as one of the top 100 education innovations to watch in the year 2022.

As Romania’s representative on behalf of the Romanian Order of Architects (OAR) at the UIA Architecture and Children Work Programme of the International Union of Architects (UIA) since 2015, a group that brings together representatives of architects from around the world involved in projects dedicated to architecture and built environment education for children, with the aim of promoting this field and the exchange of good practices, we consider that it is our responsibility to put Romania on the map and to be at the forefront of initiatives that propose an integrated education that focuses on the built environment and architecture. More than half of the world’s population lives at this moment in urban areas. The United Nations states that 68% of the world population will be living in cities by 2050. It’s not bold to say that as much as we, as professionals, are shaping the built environment, it shapes us in equal measure. Our well-being, as city dwellers, is deeply connected to how well our environment is planned, designed, shaped. This puts on our shoulders, as architects and urban planners, a huge responsibility. But we are not alone in sharing this responsibility. Together with the authorities and law-makers, we have the duty of providing a sustainable built environment, suited to the needs of the people living in it today, as well as for the future generations that will inherit it. Keeping in mind all of the above, it is quite obvious why the citizens, the communities, have an important stake in how our built environment is designed, as much as the professionals do. […]
